Footnote: The son of Dorcas Ing, The Thatcher features Arthur Ing at the hip of a cottage and using his hand turned bat to drive the thatching into place. In the corner of the image, Ing's shears, eaves knife, and rake can be spotted. Brothers Owen and Alan Dean, from the nearby village of Speen, were used as the models for Anderson’s Chiltern Wood Turners . Shown making chair legs, one brother can be seen in the background standing at a foot-operated lathe, while the other, seated in the foreground, works the shaving horse.
