Footnote: In 1961, Sir Peter helped to form the World Wildlife Fund for Nature, famously designing the original panda logo. In 1973, he was knighted for his work in conservation of wild animals. The present artwork was drafted as part of the fundraising conservation campaign ‘Save One Species Appeal’, which highlighted a series of endangered animals that warranted protection. Interestingly, the following year, Scott included the Loch Ness Monster in their 1975 appeal, which became a powerful icon of wildlife conservation at that time.
