Great Shelford is one of the most sought-after villages right below Cambridge. Demand for property for sale here comes down to how close it sits to the city while keeping a village feel. It is about four miles out, with its own mainline station running into Cambridge, Cambridge North and London Liverpool Street, a direct cycle path to Addenbrooke’s and the Biomedical Campus, and the new Cambridge South station adding a quick link to the hospital and research campus. The village has a proper centre, with a butcher, deli and shops, the Gog Magog Hills on its doorstep, and a primary school feeding into Sawston Village College, with several Cambridge independent schools within reach. Most of the houses are period and substantial family homes, with some apartments and newer builds, and prices reflect the location.

The villages right around Great Shelford are the natural next look. Stapleford adjoins it to the south and shares the same station and schools, Sawston sits a little further out with a wider spread of prices, and Fulbourn lies to the east. For more on the market at every price point, Cambridge itself is just up the line.

Why Cheffins?

Cheffins sells Great Shelford properties from its Cambridge office a few miles north, part of a firm founded in 1825. The team knows this premium run of southern villages well, from period houses near the station, to family homes with land on the edges, with the firm’s property auctions and regional reach to call on. Where the best houses go quickly and often quietly, having an agent who hears about them early is the edge that counts here.
