Cheffins, which conducts the largest monthly sale of tractors and agricultural machinery in the world, sold over £2.6 million-worth of machinery at the Cambridge monthly Machinery Sale on 16th January 2023.

The auction saw over 75% of telehandlers offered sold, over 70% of all John Deere tractors sold, 100% of Kubota tractors sold and over 70% of New Holland tractors sold. Some of the highlights included a 2018 New Holland T6.155 tractor selling for £40,000; a 2019 JCB 526-56 telehandler sold for £37,800; a 2014 Massey Ferguson 7614 tractor selling for £36,500 and a 2012 John Deere 6140R selling for £36,800.

Approximately 50% of lots offered were sold to overseas, with buyers in attendance from Northern Ireland, Slovenia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Hungary, Germany and across the African continent.

Joe Page, Director at Cheffins Machinery Sale says: “The second-hand machinery market is back with a bang in 2023. With long lead times for new kit and a massive shortage of stock available from dealers, auctions have become the go-to source for quality used machines for farmers and trade buyers the world over. The export market came back in full force at the tail end of last year, as buyers looked to make the most of the favourable exchange rates and have become increasingly confident with navigating export rulings post-Brexit. We forecast that 2023 will be a strong year for machinery sales and we already have an excellent entry for the February auctions. There is more stock coming to the saleground and consistent demand from both farmers and trade buyers.”

The next sale will be on Monday 6th February at Cheffins Machinery Sale Ground, Sutton, Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB6 2QT.
