A 2018 JCB 4220 Fastrac which sold for £86,500 and a 2009 JCB 541-70 telescopic loader which was knocked down at £31,500 were the pick of the tractors at the sale for A F Alcock and Son at Scaldwell, Northamptonshire on Wednesday 19th May. Both machines, which had been well looked after, were sold to farmer buyers. At one of the first live auctions since the easing of lockdown there was a good attendance with some strong bidding from an international online bidding audience. The vendors were well known baling and hedge-cutting contractors, with a 2014 New Holland 1290 baler  making £47,200 and a 2019 McConnel 6585 hedge-cutter at £17,500.

Other notable prices saw £20,300 paid for a 2002 New Holland LB110 digger/loader and £24500 for a 2006 New Holland BB950A baler.

Overall there was a strong trade throughout with bale trailers in plenty of demand alongside a selection of grassland equipment which was also very popular.

Over the last year buyers have adapted to the online bidding method of sale and despite the crowds attending the sale there were still over 150 buyers signed up online to bid. There is no doubt that online bidding is very popular with buyers, saving time and money in terms of travelling.

Cheffins Machinery team has a busy sales calendar from now through to the autumn with many vendors preferring the timed online method of sales. We are also operating live traditional auctions which never fail to still get a buzz and a burst of adrenaline for both auctioneer and buyer! Click here to view our calendar of sales.
