Professional local group KD Theatre Productions will present their 13th annual panto season at The Maltings on Ely's riverside this Christmas.

The show once again sponsored by Cheffins, 'Jack and the Beanstalk', runs from December 12 to January 4.

Audiences can expect an engaging storyline as Jack (played by Joe Churms), Dame Trott (Rob Stevens), and other characters try to save their family farm from Giant Blunderbore. The show promises impressive sets, costumes, and music. The main characters will be joined by lots of local young performers who attend the local KD Academy Schools.

In a review of KD's 2024 pantomime, the Ely Standard praised the show as "professional and slick, but above all, it is fun in the best pantomime tradition." This is a well-paced, professional, beautifully costumed and staged pantomime that sweeps the audience along in safe hands."

Stagetopage said: "KD Theatre Productions have perfected the balance between the traditional values of panto and keeping it appealing for newer audiences."

In total over 10,000 local people will watch the show and approaching 80,000 people will be engaged via their social network sites.

Jo Whitfield, Associate at Cheffins’ Ely office, commented:

“We’re thrilled to once again support the Ely Pantomime, a much-loved highlight of the local Christmas calendar that brings our community together for an evening of laughter and entertainment. As we celebrate Cheffins’ 200th anniversary this year, we’re proud to continue investing in the areas in which we operate, supporting future generations and ensuring our long-standing heritage remains at the heart of everything we do. The pantomime perfectly reflects that spirit by uniting thousands of people for a truly special community event.”

Austen Dack PR manager for KD Theatre Productions said: “It’s fantastic to have Cheffins as our principal partner once again for our 2025 production. KD makes an enormous investment in Ely every year, and we couldn’t do it without the help of our show partners.”
