Cheffins Fine Art will next month conduct the sale of the principal contents of Cotterstock Hall, near Oundle, Northamptonshire, and the excess stock of Windsor House Antiques.
By Instruction of Mr Kevin Smith, who has been in the antique business for over 60 years and single handedly built up Windsor House Antiques into a Globally recognised company, the lots will go under the hammer at Cheffins salerooms on Thursday 27 June 2019 at 11:00.
For the past 20 years, Windsor House Antiques has been based at Barnwell Manor, a former Royal residence near Peterborough, which offers collectors an opportunity to view fine antique and decorative furnishings in a period setting.
Windsor House Antiques offers some of the best examples from all periods and covering a wide variety of disciplines.
Mr Smith was vice chairman of LAPADA, the association of art and antique dealers, for 23 years and is a greatly respected figure within the industry.
Mr Kevin Smith, of Windsor House Antiques, said:
“This sale offers a rare and exciting opportunity to purchase the contents of Cotterstock Hall a well-known and historic Grade I listed country house in Northamptonshire, recently made famous as the film set for The Woman in Black starring Daniel Radcliffe.
“I am also pleased to include some very fine lots from Windsor House Antiques; having only a limited amount of storage space at Barnwell Manor, I have decided to reduce my stock levels accordingly.
“I have always found Cheffins to be a very professional auction house and I’m so pleased to be working with them on this sale.”
Some of the highlights in the sale include:
- A pair of Regency bronze and gilt mounted figures of Greyhounds (£3,000-5,000)
- A Regency specimen marble table, on a base carved with Dolphins (£4,000-6,000)
- A late 18th century weathered terracotta figure of Autumn (£2,000-3,000)
