On 23rd August, a team from Cheffins completed a 10,000ft skydive at the North London Skydiving Centre in Wimblington, raising more than £8,000 for Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust.

Taking part in the jump were Sarah Bush, Head of Residential; Jack French, Rural Surveyor; Henry Sidebottom, Auction Assistant and Fine Art Department member, Gabriella Mazurkiewicz.

The skydive is one of a number of fundraising initiatives organised by Cheffins staff in 2025 as the firm celebrates its 200-year anniversary with an ambitious target to raise £200,000 for charity. The majority of funds will go towards the creation of a dedicated playroom for young patients at the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital, currently under construction.

Speaking after the event, Sarah Bush said:

“This jump was completely out of my comfort zone, but I was determined to do something that would help us reach our £200,000 goal. It was an early start for us all with registration at 7.30am and Jack and I were last to jump on Saturday afternoon, which saw the adrenalin and nerves rise as time went by. The feeling of trust in the instructor as he takes you over the edge and into free fall was strangely the part I loved the most, however, I was very pleased to land safely and immensely proud that we exceeded our fundraising target.  We have a series of further events planned in the run-up to the end of the year, including the auction of the Cheffins charity tractor, our office bike ride, and an online timed charity auction. As part of our 200th anniversary, we want to give back to the next generations of our region, supporting charities which will make a real difference to their future.”

So far this year, Cheffins staff have taken part in a wide range of fundraising challenges, including the Cambridge Half Marathon, the Norfolk Coastal Trek, the Three Peaks Challenge, a rounders tournament hosted by the Haverhill office, and a bake sale run by the Newmarket office – collectively raising over £112,000 to date.
