Cheffins Commercial Management division has scored a hattrick of significant new instructions in the past quarter, strengthening its position as one of the leading commercial management agents across Cambridgeshire and the wider region.
The three appointments will bring an additional 20,000 sq ft of commercial property under management, on behalf of corporate, charity and private landlord clients, which is reflective of the growing demand for specialist management services. Currently Cheffins manages some 300 properties across Cambridgeshire, with a combined rent roll of over £9 million.
On behalf of a local family pension fund, Cheffins will be managing a significant portfolio of commercial property, after the landlord opted to move away from in-house management in March 2026. The portfolio includes a modern three-storey office building, a converted former granary now operating as a two-storey office with an additional loft workspace, a single-storey training facility and extensive car park and yard areas, the majority of which is occupied by John Henry Group.
Since Cheffins’ appointment, surveyors from the firm have carried out full site inspections and measurements, progressed the professional work and ensured key compliance requirements such as EPCs are in place.
In addition, on behalf of the Wrights Clock Land Charity, Cheffins will be managing a mixed-use residential and commercial portfolio based in Fulbourn, Cambridgeshire, which comprise of nine commercial units, eight of which are currently let.
Cheffins has also been instructed to manage two tenanted retail units; 6 Newmarket High Street and 3-7 Station Road Newmarket on behalf of a private landlord.
Across all three appointments, Cheffins will be delivering a comprehensive management service, including compliance inspections, undertaking detailed risk assessments and ensuring any necessary works are completed efficiently and causing minimal disruption to tenants.
Darren Hill, Head of the Commercial Division at Cheffins says: “We have been instructed by a variety of different landlord types in the past few months, ranging from private portfolio owners, charities and also large-scale corporates. This goes to show that commercial management still provides an unrivalled service for a series of different sectors, by relieving landlords of the day-to-day demands of property ownership, while also protecting and enhancing commercial property assets. We are now consolidating Cheffins’ position as one of the leading managing agents in the Cambridgeshire region and continue to add value at all different sectors of the market, whether that is for one of the Cambridge colleges or a private landlord with a smaller portfolio. We maintain regular contact with occupiers through routine site visits, enabling us to provide a proactive, responsive management service.”
David Grove, Trustee at Wrights Clock Land Charity comments: “Wright’s have worked with Cheffins since 2020 on a number of projects around the buying, selling and management of both land and property; most recently, our acquisition of the North side of Fulbourn High Street, a complex mixture of residential and commercial properties. We have always benefited enormously from Cheffins breadth of expertise, not only on the local market but on wider issues such as environmental concerns and the considerations of Grade II listed properties.”
Jim Henry, Trustee of local family pension fund comments: “We chose Cheffins as they are a longstanding local agent with excellent local knowledge. We have been consistently impressed with their responsiveness and attention to detail.”
