The Cheffins Machinery & Vintage Sales team has hosted two timed online-only auctions in 2019 both of which proved a resounding success.

Most notably, a timed online-only dispersal sale of greenkeeping machinery, vehicles, buildings, hotels and kitchen contents on behalf of Abbotsley Golf Club grossed over £120,000, making it the most successful online auction to date. Taking place over 10 days and ending on 1st April, the sales were hosted on the new Cheffins website and saw over 160 bidders log in. The top lots were New Holland Boomer 3945 tractor which made £9,790 and a Toro Groundsmaster rotary mower which made £9,230.

A vintage and classic tractor spares sale from a deceased estate saw a 100 per cent sale rate as online buyers snapped up items varying from Massey Ferguson seat covers to stock exhausts, tinwork and steering wheels. The sale took place in February and coincided with the monthly Machinery Sale at Sutton with all the items moved to the sale ground from Yorkshire.

Bill King, Chairman, Cheffins says: “We have found that online-only sales can be the best forum for smaller parcels of equipment and spares and can provide a quick and hassle-free option for businesses looking for a complete or part disposal of stock and machinery. The Abbotsley Golf Club sale was highly successful due to its good selection of usable ride-on mowers and golf and greenkeeping machines which rarely come available on the second-hand market. We will be looking to increase the numbers of online-only sales which we host throughout 2019 as the method becomes increasingly popular with both buyers and sellers alike.”
