We are looking for a full-time Specialist Valuer & Cataloguer - Watches, Silver & Jewellery to join our hardworking team, based in our Flagship Cambridge Saleroom (CB1 7EA).

What will you be doing?

Proactively sourcing, valuing and cataloguing goods for sale and conducting other professional valuations as required, along with general department and sale specific administration.


Main Purpose / Scope of the role:

  • Proactively source goods for sale and when talking to/visiting clients be aware of opportunities for other departments also.
  • Cataloguing and photographing goods for sale (print quality images are taken by our professional photographer).
  • Provide accurate valuations for sale or other professional purposes.
  • Establish new and maintain existing client relationships.
  • To monitor and respond to electronic valuation enquiries.
  • To work collaboratively to produce industry-leading sale catalogues.
  • Continue to grow and expand knowledge of specialist subject.
  • Assist in the organisation and running of valuation and consignment days in Cambridge, London and around the region.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Jewellery to develop and grow the wider department.

What will it take to be successful?

  • The successful candidate will have a minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably in an auction house.
  • Ability to accurately catalogue, authenticate and value watches, silver and jewellery - other areas of knowledge may be advantageous.
  • Professional qualifications desirable.
  • An ability to deal with clients courteously and professionally.
  • Strong organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A team player who is also able to work under their own initiative.
  • A full driving license and use of own vehicle which is insured for business use.
