As part of its 200th anniversary celebrations, Cheffins took centre stage at this year’s Saffron Walden Carnival, proudly participating as one of the main sponsors of the iconic Parade. The Cheffins team created a vibrant float themed around the "Three Little Pigs," which made its way through the town centre, drawing crowds and cheers along the route.

Staff from the Saffron Walden office were joined by Chairman Bill King, who entertained onlookers by auctioneering from the back of the Cheffins pick-up truck. Following closely behind was the Cheffins Charity Tractor, driven by Jack French, which will be auctioned at the Cheffins Vintage Sale this October, with all proceeds to the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust.

The Cheffins float was one of many impressive entries from local businesses and community groups, all taking part in the town’s much-loved 8 Day Weekend celebration which takes place every three years.

Bruce King, Director and Head of the Saffron Walden office, commented:
“This was a fantastic team effort and we received so many compliments from members of the public – many said it was the best float in the Parade. It was a fitting way to mark Cheffins’ 200 years of history in Saffron Walden, where our journey began in 1825. The Parade was a favourite tradition of our former Chairman, Paul Gooderham, and we were proud to honour his legacy this year.”

The theme for the float was imagined by Claire Powell from the Saffron Walden office, and built by Joe Philips, who drove the pickup truck on the day. The float was decorated by Saffron Walden office staff.

The Saffron Walden Carnival is just one of a series of events being hosted by Cheffins this year as part of its 200-year anniversary. The main aim of the celebrations is to raise £200,000 for charity this year, the majority of which will go to the Addenbrookes Charitable Trust to create a playroom as part of the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital which is currently under construction.

Bruce King continues: “We are celebrating with purpose this year and are working hard to reach our £200,000 goal, much of which will provide the means for the new Children’s Hospital to create a dedicated playroom for children undergoing treatment.”
