Cheffins has gifted 200 comforters to babies receiving care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Addenbrooke’s Hospital this Christmas. As part of the firm’s long-running relationship with the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust, the comforters will be delivered to babies in treatment by the Hospital’s Play Team on Christmas Eve.

Over recent weeks, Cheffins staff have individually wrapped each comforter, ahead of their handover by Chairman Bill King directly to members of the Hospital Play Team at The Rosie maternity hospital on the Addenbrooke’s Campus.

Cheffins, which is celebrating its 200-year anniversary this year, has pledged to raise over £200,000 for charity as part of its bicentennial activities, a target which has already been completed, with further fundraising events continuing until January 2026. The majority of these funds will go to create a playroom at the new Cambridge Children’s Hospital, as part of Cheffins’ goal to support the health and wellbeing of the future generations of the region.

Bill King, Chairman at Cheffins said: “It is humbling to witness the extraordinary work of ACT and hospital staff throughout the Christmas period. Our thoughts are with the families whose babies are in the NICU this year, and we hope these comforters bring a little festive cheer at an incredibly difficult time. Delivering the comforters to the NICU is just a small part of the activities which we have carried out with the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust this year, alongside major fundraising and various other initiatives to support children in treatment, both currently, and in the future.”
