Cheffins’ 200-Year Anniversary Charity Auction has raised £17,000, with the full proceeds being donated to Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust (ACT) to support the creation of a dedicated playroom at the forthcoming Cambridge Children’s Hospital. The online auction took place from 7th – 23rd November and offered a series of money-can’t-buy experiences, it attracted 81 bidders from around the world with many lots exceeding expectations.

The highlight was the unique opportunity to have a name featured in Jeffrey Archer’s final standalone novel, scheduled for publication in 2026. After spirited bidding and 40 bids, the lot achieved £7,000.

Lord Archer, who is marking his 50th year or writing said:

“It’s my final standalone novel, so I thought it was time to have a little fun and try to raise money for a fantastic charity at the same time. The Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust is a charity which is close to my heart, not least because my wife, Mary, is President and has committed so much of her life to Addenbrookes.”

Other highlights from the 28-lot auction included a weeklong stay for four people in the Highlands, which achieved £1,300; the opportunity to become a member of Team Eaurouge International Classic Sidecar Racing which sold for £2,400 and a six-night stay in a luxury resort in the Bahamas which achieved £900.
