Bristol Machinery Sale Report

Cheffins Machinery Auctioneers sold over £187,000 worth of machinery at its annual Bristol Sale on Wednesday 23rd November. On the day 30 tractors were sold alongside 130 spares, balers, cultivators and other RTV items.

The Bristol Machinery Sale has established itself as the largest second-hand machinery collective in the UK, following Cheffins' Cambridge Machinery Sales. The event was heavily attended by a mix of local and overseas buyers.

Second-hand tractors were the most popular items on the day. Top lots included a New Holland tractor which made £26,500 and was sold to a UK buyer based in Lancashire, a John Deere 6230 which sold for £22,500 and a Deutz N610 tractor which sold for £23,200 to a dealer from Northern Ireland. There was a recreational day boat which sold to a private purchaser from Somerset.

Bill Pepper, Director at Cheffins, comments:

"Second-hand machinery sales have reached new levels in recent months with UK and export buyers back in the market at full force. This year's Bristol sale saw strong prices achieved for the best items, with a strong contingent of local buyers in attendance, coupled with a number of bidders from overseas and online. The combination of rising prices for new  tractors, lack of new tractor registrations, a shortage of stock for dealers and a drop in trade-ins has really brought UK dealers and end-users back to our market."

The next machinery sale to be hosted by Cheffins will be at the Cambridge Machinery Saleground at Sutton in Ely, Cambridgeshire, CB6 2QT.
