LEWIS (Clive Staples; 1898-1963) single page autograph letter signed, dated 22/4/58 on Magdalene College Cambridge notepaper, concerning availability of a guest of C S Lewis: 'Dear Dr Owst, I have had no word from Profesor Mroczkowski yet about the time of his arrival. He dines and spends the night with me and I shall of course be at the lecture...', with original envelope. [G R Owst, author of 'Preaching in Medieval England'; and, 'Literature and Pulpit in Medieval England'. Przemysław Mroczkowski (1915-2002) was at Oxford after the Second World War and met C S Lewis and Tolkien. He did much work on Chaucer - see: Przemysław Mroczkowski, The Canterbury Tales against the background of the era, Lublin 1956]. 22/4/58 "Dear Dr Owst/I have had no word from/Professor Mroczkowski yet about the tim/of his arrival.
