A rectangular bronze plaque of five Buddhas, early Ming dynasty, the row of five buddhas in raised relief, each with similar posture and round face, three dedication text lines on the plaque, 46cm wide In addition to the buyer's premium of 27% (22.5% + VAT) payable on the Hammer Price, this lot is also subject to import VAT at the reduced rate of 5%, payable on the Hammer Price. This indicates that the lot has been imported from outside the European Union.
Provenance: Acquired in Hong-Kong in the 1990s From the collection Cheng Huan S.C. Other Notes: This fragment is likely to be from a bronze pagoda, possibly from the Shanxi province, Wutaishan Area, where some bronze pagodas still remain.
