Pair of Fowler 18nhp Ploughing Engines. Class AA. Works No. 14728, Reg No. DO 1918 “Giant Tiger” and Works No. 14729 Reg No. 1919 “Giant Panther”.
Full set of Fowler ploughing and cultivating tackle.
These two well known engines were new 30.10.18 to the Quadring Steam Cultivating Co of Holland, Lincs and spent all their working life in Lincolnshire. After two more Lincolnshire owners, they passed to the well known Shropshire contractor R.M. Woolley in 1955. They were purchased for preservation at his dispersal sale in 1968, and after more two owners were sold to Barleylands Museum in 1985, when they were fitted with new fire boxes. Over the following years extensive restoration has been carried out and these beautifully presented engines have demonstrated their ploughing abilities admirably on numerous occasions at rallies and on home ground at Barleylands.
There are not too many of the larger AA class Fowlers working in preservation. They come with extensive boiler paperwork which is available for inspection.
The unique collection of Fowler cultivating equipment will be offered first to the buyer of the engines.
