Two inner or outer Mongolia bronze plaques, Warring States period and Han dynasty, one depicting a bull in relief with head resting on forelegs, tail lowered, first century BC to first century AD, 10 x 5cm; the other depicting a tiger attacking prey, the body decorated with stylised dots and geometrical patterns, a square hole to the middle of the plaque, a loop to the reverse, 4th or 3rd century BC, 12 x 6cm (2) In addition to the buyer's premium of 27% (22.5% + VAT) payable on the Hammer Price, this lot is also subject to import VAT at the reduced rate of 5%, payable on the Hammer Price. This indicates that the lot has been imported from outside the European Union.
This plaque is a variant of other belt plaques with images of lying down animals. These plaques were distributed all over Central Asia during the Xiongnu period.
