Monro School, 19th Century A collection of mostly topographical watercolours and drawings, principally by Alexander Monro (1802-1844) and by other hands, to include six landscape watercolours, few inscribed with initials 'AM', one signed 'Henry Monro'; 'Merrow Race Course, Surrey, inscribed with initials 'AM' and dated Sept 1838, watercolour, 35 x 54 cm (14 x 21in); drawings of Oxford including 'Oxford from Heddington Hill', inscribed with initials 'AM' and dated March 1836, pen and ink, 26.5 x 37 cm (10.5 x 14.5in); and 'Gate at New College, Oxford', inscribed with initials 'AM' and dated 1820, pen and ink with grey wash, 36.5 x 25.5 cm (14.5 x 10in); with other mostly landscape drawings in pencil or charcoal, few inscribed with initials 'AM', including Casterbridge House, Brooklands Park, Blackheath; Albury Park; Bushey; some of churches some inscribed with titles and/or initials watercolours, pen and ink with wash, pencil (27)
