Footnote: Provenance: The Alan Jacobs Gallery, London, from whom acquired by the late husband of the present owner as by 'Thomas van Apshoven'

Condition report: Oil on panel with a heavy cradle on the reverse. Old splits in the panel, following the horizontal wood grain, have been stabilised. The panel is generally flat and in plane. The paint layer is in a stable condition. There are scattered retouchings across the surface covering splits and old wear. The retouchings are slightly milky in the darker areas but generally well matched to the original. The varnish is even and glossy. The frame is in a good condition.
