Description

Benton Menace 18, 2020 oil on canvas board 18 x 24cm Footnote: “This Iris is called ‘Benton Menace 18’, which is an Iris that was bred by artists and plantsman Cedric Morris. Every year, when the irises are in bloom I spend a month visiting gardens around Suffolk painting and drawing them.” Jelly is a contemporary British painter who divides her time between her studio in Suffolk and London. She has been mentored by artist Maggi Hambling since she was 16 years old and also studied at The Royal Drawing school. Her paintings, which are imbued with a deep passion for nature and landscape - whether it’s the Brazilian rainforest where she lived in a treehouse for several months, or the bucolic English garden of her childhood - explore the passion and wonder of the natural world.
