Description

A mid-18th century German Altona Padouk and parcel gilt bombe secretaire-cabinet, the upper part with a shaped panelled mirror door, the borders with rocaille, S-scrolls and foliage opening to reveal an interior with two adjustable shelves and three small drawers, with a fitted fall-front secretaire drawer below, with further small drawers and pigeon holes, between canted angles, the shaped top applied with a foliate scroll cartouche, rocaille, double-scroll and acanthus angles with fruit and flowers, the centre with an entwined strapwork and florette moulded band on a pounced ground with three long drawers below, between further canted angles, on a gilt gesso stand with shaped apron and scroll feet carved with acanthus, applied overall with ormolu pierced cartouches, rocaille, double C-scroll and foliage handles and escutcheons, with four larger carrying - handles to the sides 271 x 125 x 64cm (106 x 49 x 25in)
