Description

A late Victorian silver plated claret jug, circa 1890, by William Fairbairns & Sons of London, of circular conical form, the glass body engraved with foliate and star decoration between two borders of ferns, the collar, 40mm (1½") deep, with complimentary engraving, plain sparrow beak spout and flat topped hinged cover with reeded thumbpiece, the simple leaf capped scroll handle supported from the collar and a reeded band attached midway down the body 25 x 12cm (10 x 5in)
