Description

A Chinese censing basket, in the form of a hinged and pierced ball, the interior featuring the small cup within a three way gimbal, with simple S shaped retaining catch and suspended from a short length of belcher chain terminating in a shepherd's crook fitting 5.50 x 5.50 x 5.50cm (2 x 2 x 2in)
Censing baskets were often used to perfume garments and bedclothes, and even to kill insects.
