She began her artistic career at the Slade School of Fine Art in 1931 and then attended Westminster School of Fine Art where she studied with Mark Gertler and Bernard Meninsky. She exhibited at the Fine Arts Society in 1935 and later at the Royal Academy. Fedarb was particularly influenced by Cubism and Matisse, and her resulting separation of colours into geometric planes can be seen in the present work. Canvas has been painted on the reverse, which has kept lining taught. There is evidence of cleaning and varnishing, along with subsequent retouching. There are two punctures to the canvas towards the bottom middle of the picture
