Woodland auction hits £55,000

A two and a quarter acre woodland close to Cambridge sold for £55,000 at the latest Cheffins Property Auction. This was nearly three times the guide price.

On the edge of the village of Great Shelford, the woodland reflected the national interest in hobby forestry. Within the plot is a chalk pit and a WWII pillbox. Simon Gooderham, Cheffins auctioneer, says: “There was a great deal of competition in the auction saleroom, which just shows how popular small pieces of woodland are – they can provide a great outlet for nature lovers.

“With a bit of management and some professional forestry advice, this woodland could have lots of potential - the chalk pit and pill box add an extra 'adventurous' element for grown ups as well as children.”
