With an impressive crowd gathering by the first ring of the bell at 10am sharp it was up to auctioneer Jeremy Curzon to kick things off in the building with steam literature hotly contested and a Fowler Road Spraying and Re-Surfacing Plant catalogue selling for an impressive £160, Aveling & Barford Steam Roller catalogue at £60 and H Richards & Co Ltd Engineers Rolling Contractors illustrated catalogue hitting £65. The model section turned up a few surprises with a very well presented boxed Mamod steam wagon found a winning bid of £85, two well painted Scale Down Fordson Majors made £65 a piece and an interesting Corgi tandem Ferguson 165 and equal wheel 165 model made a pleasing £70 each.

Good trade continued with a restored hand operated petrol pump hitting £270, but top honours went to a very sharp and well presented pair of Lucas ‘King of the Road’ automobile lamps fetching a resounding £520! A nice line up of stationary engines were on offer with a 1913 Lister J restored engine complete with trailer took £400, 1942 Lister A 3hp sold at £240 and a very attractive 1937 Cooper CT 2hp saw some competitive bidding and knocked down at £480.

With Sale 1 still running it was out into the field for Sale 2 with Oliver Godfrey taking the reins and a couple of lots in saw a heavy downpour but this failed to dampen the determined bidders. First up was a fresh lot in the form of an uncommon Ferguson Hydrovane compressor making a healthy £260. Good straight tinwork is still the order of the day with a tidy pair of David Brown wings hitting £245, pair International 275 fenders at £200, Fordson Major nose cone selling at £200 and a useful pair of Leyland cab doors at £140. A set of Ford front weights made an impressive £140, a pair of Ferguson rear wheels and tyres made £150 and a belt driven pillar drill made a competitive £170.

The implement section saw a healthy entry with a very original John Deere Sulky ride on plough make an impressive £500 and I understand will be seen behind an International Titan 10/20 soon. An International 3furrow mounted plough made £220, Turner mounted mower hit £400 and a nice 1948 BMB Hoemate pedestrian cultivator knocked down at £70.

With a diverse line-up of restored, original and straight from work tractors on offer and almost 70% of them found new homes. Trade was brisk and an impressive crowd had amassed to see them sold. With William King in charge of the clipboard things got under way. Top prices went to a superbly restored 1949 Fordson E27N P6 with lighting kit, high top gear and linkage it was the one they all wanted and one very happy individual having to part with £9,500 to take it home. An original 1979 County 1174 made £8,200, a restored Massey Ferguson 135 made £3,500 and the Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust (BOAT) restored John Deere 2020 knocked down at £3,200 and all proceeds going to the charity. A straight from work 1975 Massey Ferguson 168 with loader hit £2,800 and another 100 series this time a 165 made £2,275, a 565 made £2,450 and a change of colour in the form of a Ford 5000 with pas supplied locally made £3,350 and finally a very presentable 1950 International Farmall M made £2,950.
