Cheffins auctioneers inaugural sale in Scotland in aid of the Game Conservancy Trust and the Atlantic Salmon Trust was received with great enthusiasm at Perth Racecourse. In particular the Gun trade and Fishing collectors were bidding with great enthusiasm, throughout this great sale.

Top prices included a cased display of Great Bustard which made £5,400, a Malloch’s carved wood Hen Salmon Spey Trophy finally fetched £4,000, after keen bidding in the saleroom.

An oil painting by Malcolm Coward , “The Rutt”, sold for £3,400.

In the gun section a pair of box lock guns by W J Jeffrey’s in a fitted case sold for £3,800, an early Dickson of Edinburgh round action 12 bore gun enjoyed much attention and finally fetched £4,400 and another from the same makers sold for £3,600. A rarity in the gun world was a J & W Tolley 8 bore, for the Wildfowler which finally sold for £2,200.

The celebrity reception on Friday night attracted some of the top sporting art dealers and private collectors from the area. Cocktails & canapés were consumed in eager anticipation of the Scottish Sporting Sale which followed on the Saturday and was a great success.
