Syd Barrett at Auction

Cheffins Auctioneers will be selling previously unseen items from Syd Barrett in their March 5th & 6th Fine Art Sale.

'Abstract. Chain link harrows', 50 x 74cm was painted during Syd’s first year at Camberwell Art School, and the painting was given to his brother where it has stayed ever since. Est: £4,000-8,000. The sale will also include from Syd’s brother, a pair of H J Leak & Co Sandwich speakers. These speakers belonged to Syd and were used in his flat during the 1960’s, they feature in a documentary made on him at the time. One bears a hole to the front which was allegedly caused by his ‘cigarette’. They have been in his brother’s possession until now. Est: £200-400. Also a signed Christmas card, est: £40-80.

Viewing will take place from Sunday 2nd March.

Syd's Items will be sold on Wednesday 5th March as part of the C20th Design & Decorative Arts section.
