Super Scottish Sale!

The Cheffins’ Auction Team were on the road again and this time broke new records with their most northerly modern on-site auction sale. The destination was the beautiful Barnhills Farm, Kirkcolm on the extreme west coast of Scotland and boasted some of the finest views as well as machinery. The vendor had decided to dispose his impressive fleet of 2009 Fendt tractors and modern machinery and reinvest into a robotic milking system and further enhance his livestock enterprise.

The sale kicked off at 11am sharp and a decent crowd had gathered with many new faces as well as some familiar ones, many having travelled across the water from Ireland. The highlights of the first section were a brace of Portequip bull feeders making £1,800 and £1,750 a piece, a pair of 30.5 LR32 wheels and tyres hit £1,720 and a Buhler Farm King trailed roller mill topped £2,600.

Much of the machinery on offer was exceptionally well maintained and had only covered a few acres or recorded a handful of hours. Trade was strong and with a field full of buyers and top lots were two 2007 Kverneland ploughs which made a busting £13,800 for an ES95 and £12,500 for an ED85, a very tidy 2008 Kuhn LC302 Combiliner drill mounted on a 2007 Kuhn HR3003 power harrow fetched £12,000 and a clean Amazone UF1200 mounted sprayer hit £5,900. Grassland kit was sought after with a 2006 Joskin Modulo 2 10,000 litre slurry tanker at £7,200 and a 2007 John Deere 530 hit £10,200 and equally good was a 2009 John Deere 1365 made £10,900. A very shiny 2009 McHale F550 round baler sold at £18,500 and tidy 2005 Deutz Fahr MP135 round baler hit £8,100. A very sharp John Deere 459 conventional baler was not outdone at a very impressive £3,850. Trailer trade was brisk with a 2007 Ruscon 16t at £6,600, Donnelly 12t multipurpose trailer took £6,600, a 2004 Kane 11t made £5,300 and a very useful 2007 Kane 24ft flat bed trailer made £5,000.

The real crux of the sale would be the awesome line up of new Fendt and John Deere tractors. First up was an immaculate 2009 Fendt 820 with Vario and TMS and sold for £84,750, the useful 415 with 4X80 loader made £69,500 and the 312 hit £48,500. The 2008 John Deere 6930 with all the bells and whistles took a very respectable £47,000 and an uncommon 2007 Case MXU115 without a full cab made £14,500. The 2009 Dieci 38.10 materials handler was a real surprise and sold at £35,750. With a bit less horsepower but equally sought after was a 1992 Ford 5640 at £7,100, a John Deere 2650 at £4,000 and a wee Ford 3900 knocked down at £1,900.

In all a very pleasing result with top money being paid for the machinery on offer and a very pleased vendor, proving there is still very strong demand for second hand farm machinery. Our attentions now turn to two more on-site disposal auctions on Tuesday 13th April Methwold Hythe, Norfolk and Tuesday 18th May Halstead, Essex.
