Stanley Lewis Works at Auction - 'One of the best artists of the C20th

We are delighted to have two works by Stanley Lewis, MBE (Welsh, b.1905) in our September Fine Art sale.
Stanley Cornwell Lewis has been described as one of the most important artists of the 20th Century.
Born on 18 December 1905, he is a Welsh portrait painter and illustrator. His friend, Augustus John, described him as one of the best artists of the 20th Century.

He is the author and illustrator, with his wife, Minnie Lewis, of Laugharne and Dylan Thomas which has recently been republished, about his neighbour, Dylan Thomas, and Laugharne, the village in which they both lived.

Mr Lewis was awarded the MBE in 2006 for his services to the arts. At the age of 101, he is currently working on an illustrated book on his wartime experiences.
