Rodney Gladwell (1934-1979) at Auction
Cheffins Auctioneers are proud to announce the forthcoming sale of paintings from the collection of Rodney Gladwell.
Gladwell was born in 1934 in Didcot, Berkshire. An artist whose individual style and interests attracted many admirers, '..when the public looks for the abstract artist in him, he has disappointed them by his reality, and when they have looked for realism, they have been disappointed by his abstraction..'
Selected to be in the company of Henry Moore, Terry Frost, Francis Bacon, Victor Pasmore, David Hockney and Graham Sutherland in the Hamburg exhibition of 1968, Gladwell was an artist whose short life sadly ended the career of a great original and highly skilled artist.
These paintings will be part of Cheffins 21st February Pictures & Books Auction.
