PURE CLAAS

Our onsite auction sale at Great Yeldham Hall, Essex could be described as pure class in more ways than one!

Not only was there an impressive array on top quality tractors and machinery offer there was also three very impressive Class Lexion combines. The Gray, Cowther and Unwin farming families had made the decision to form one farming entity and create Hinkford Farming Ltd and chose to dispose of the excess machinery and equipment.

The sale kicked off at 10.30am on what was one of the warmest days of the year, with a large crowd from locals to regulars and even buyers as far a field as Romania, Poland and even Libya! Top lots of machinery were a 2006 Simba Solo ST 330 at £13,800, 2002 Simba X-Press at £11,000 and an ever popular 2001 Simba Cultipress hit £12,800. Good trade continued with a McConnel Shakaerator at £3,300 and a Cousins V-Form 5leg subsoiler at £3,300 also. One of the surprise lots was a clean set of 1999 Michael Moores 10m Cambridge rolls at a whopping £6,800! Trailer trade was brisk with a 1985 Salop 12tonne at £3,400 and a tidy 1986 Western 10tonne at £3,200.

The last row of machinery contained the high value lots and first up was a gleaming 2007 John Deere 6930 Premium with sub 1,000 hours on the clock and fired at £42,500. The next lot shone equally as much in the fine May sunshine and was testament to the previous owner as it was the sharpest Claas Challenger 55 we have offered in recent sales, which was evident in the £34,800 paid for it. The next lot a 1997 John Deere 8200 sold very well also at £17,750 a tidy John Deere 3050 sold at £5,600 and a very straight 1979 Massey Ferguson 565 with Multi Power fetched £3,700. Continuing the good trade was a 1997 Househam Sprint 2000 self – propelled sprayer took a strong £23,000.

Last up was the three magnificent Claas Lexion combines all well cared for and took an imposing stance on the sale field. First up was a very sharp 2002 Claas Lexion 460 Evolution and made an impressive £74,000, next up was the 2004 Claas Lexion 540C and hit £74,500, but top lot went the leviathan a 2005 Claas Lexion 580 and took and equally large £100,000.

The sale was well supported by local farmers and highlights include a 1995 Massey Ferguson 6160 at £11,000, 1991 Massey Ferguson 50HX at £4,800, 1999 Bateman RB16 24m at £25,500, 2006 Simba Solo 380 ST at £13,500 and a 2008 Foton Europard with front loader and took £9,500.

In conclusion another successful sale with pleased vendors and evidence that second hand machinery trade is still very strong with prices strengthened by our foreign buyers from our Cambridge Machinery Sales.
