With a busy few days leading up to the sale and some inclement weather it meant the sale field resembled more a scene from Glastonbury rather than one of our auctions. This however did not deter the bidders who turned out in their droves to snap up the quality kit on show. Highlights on the day were a 2007 John Deere 6930 at £32,000, same again but with a Chilton MXT15 front loader at a resounding £36,000, a 2006 6420S topped £23,000, a super sharp 2007 7930 with new boots hit £45,800 and a late entry in the form of a 2007 John Deere 7530 sold well at £34,800. With some speculation as to what a bright pair of 2008 McCormick’s would fetch, they did not disappoint at an eyebrow raising £33,400 for the TTX230 and £24,600 for the MC135. Top tractor trade continued with a 2009 Valtra T191 at £47,200, 2006 Massey Ferguson 7490 Dyna-VT hit £22,800 and one of the biggest surprises of the day was for a recently refurbished 1992 Ford 7740 SLE which knocked down at £14,000! Not done there the final lots were a 2005 Kubota B1710 at £5,000, 2007 Valtra T190 at £28,200, Massey Ferguson 8280 hit £19,500, Kubota L4200 fetched £5,450 and a useful 1990 Case 785 with loader went away at £3,350. To finish off the section were two JCB material handlers, selling well at £22,000 for a 2006 535-95 and £8,000 for a 1995 526-55.
Machinery trade was excellent with grassland kit on fire with a 2008 New Holland BB940A baler at £33,000, a 2003 Walton Eclipse bale carrier/staker at £25,500, a shiny 2010 McHale F550 round baler sold well at £16,500; a Mecmar 15/90 mobile drier hit £10,000 and an 05/06 Samco 6row maize drill knocked down at £6,600. Trailer trade was superb again with all 4 2003 Redrock 13tonne silage trailers going at £7,000 each, a brace of Bailey 11tonne silage trailers sold well at £5,100 and the Sampson Flex 16 muck spreaders found new homes at £11,800 and £12,200.
In all an excellent sale with great support from the vendors and farmers local to the areas with some of our top buyers following us down from Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Suffolk and Wales to help support us. All this culminated into one of our best results in the West Country with some topping good prices to match. Our attention now turns to our sale for Halden Farms on Tuesday 8th March at Farcet near Peterborough.
MUDDY GOOD SALE
Thursday 17th February saw one of the largest sales in the West Country in recent years with our collective sale at Newton Abbot, Devon. The sale was by direction of Sam Vallance and Howton Contractors whose entry along with many other local farmers and contractors made for an exciting line up of agricultural machinery.
