Lauren meets the kids

The Cheffins Community Fund recently donated £400 to pay for transport for three or four families per week to the Stetchworth Ellesmere Centre where the Ellesmere Opportunity Playgroup meets every Wednesday.

The Playgroup is a place where special needs children can play together and parents can meet, offering support and friendship to each other.

Lauren King from the Newmarket office went along to join in with the children playing.

Lauren says: “I thought it was a fantastic charity and gave me an insight into what the families go through and the obstacles that they face on a daily basis.

“It was really touching to hear the parents' stories and their genuine appreciation for the funding that Cheffins provided. Without these donations it wouldn’t be feasible for several of the families to travel to the classes and it really does offer them a huge support and a chance to escape for a couple of hours from the huge responsibilities of caring for their children.”

The Cheffins Community Fund has also recently made a donation of £500 to Highfield Special School, Ely, to fund a music therapist.

The school takes children from a wide area around East Cambs, all of whom have significant and complex learning difficulties.
