Hemplands Farm Highs

Following another busy and successful Cambridge Machinery Sale the Cheffin’s Auction Team followed the next day up with a good genuine Fenland farm sale. The location was Hemplands Farm, Methwold Hythe, Norfolk and a good selection of clean low houred machinery was on offer.

The sale started as usual at 10.30am and a strong crowd had gathered with many familiar faces from the day before present. Top lots where an Augerveyor bale accumulator at £900, a straight Rabe Eagle 140 plough turned £2,400, Farm Force 3 metre front press at £1,150 and a useful Accord drill and Kuhn power harrow combination hit £3,750. Good trade continued with a 1999 Bomford Trim King hedgecutter at £2,800, 2004 Agrimaster RMU280 flail mower at £3,400 and a very sharp 2004 Taarup 9142 mounted tedder fetched a pleasing £3,350. One of the lots they all came for was a Master Driers mobile 10 tonne grain drier and received some determined bidding on the telephone and in the ‘barn’, it started in the low thousands, but eventually after a full chorus from Mr King finally knocked down at £7,750 to some surprised mutterings.

It was then onto the stars of the sale, two low houred immaculate John Deere tractors. Up first was a 2002 John Deere 6610 with Farm Force front linkage and showing only 1,021.8 hours. There was as you would expect a lot of pre-sale interest, from Scotland, Cheshire and locally. There was much speculation to value as John Deere’s in this condition and recorded hours are very rare. It’s fair to say it exceeded all our expectations and after a flurry of bids knocked down at £25,600. The next green machine was an equally sharp 2003 John Deere 6120 with a careful 441.5 hours recorded with similar interest and sold at £24,700. This left a 1994 Matbro TS260 at £7,000, a 1983 Claas Dominator 86 combine at £8,900 and a tidy little 1984 Massey Ferguson 440 at £1,900.

Another pleasing result for some excellent machinery and showing that there is still good demand for quality second hand equipment. Next up after our Cambridge Vintage Sale on the 24th April will be an impressive on-site sale at Great Yeldham Hall, Great Yeldham, Essex on 18th May. The sale includes 3 high spec Claas combines 2005 Lexion 580, 2004 Lexion 540C and 2002 Lexion 460 also 2007 John Deere 6930, 2001 Claas Challenger 55, 1997 John Deere 8200 and two Valtra tractors a 2004 T170 and 2002 8150 as well as implements, trailers and spares.
