FORMER PRINTING WORKS TRANSFORMED

One unit of 3,000 sq ft remains in the former Burlington Press print works in Foxton, five miles west of Cambridge, after a £1m transformation of over 60,000 sq ft reports Tom Owen of Cheffins. He says: “After the printing company went into administration in 2009 it looked like 100 years of employment was at an end until former owner Paul Ridgeon repossessed the assets and set about redeveloping the premises. Now known as Burlington Park, the site supports a business community which is predominantly based in the I.T. and high-tech sectors along with the revitalised printing operation.”

Current occupiers include local property company Endurance Estates with 1,000 sq ft of office space, EFS Technology, a leading electronic document management specialist, occupying 5,153 sq ft of offices, and Camcon Oil Limited, a world leading research supplier to the gas and oil industries, with 4,476 sq ft.

In addition, Bluepoint UK Ltd, a commercial printing company which last December merged the old Burlington Press and Blueprint companies to create BPC Litho, occupies 28,000 sq ft of light industrial space and continues the printing traditions of the former Burlington Press.

Tom Owen describes the remaining unit as a character office / studio accommodation. “It is brilliantly flexible, newly refurbished space suitable for offices, high-tech or light production uses. There is a dedicated reception and entrance lobby, plus plenty of parking. The property is available to let at a rent of £22,000 per annum exclusive. This final unit rounds off an imaginative redevelopment which has ensured the future of the works as an important employment site in South Cambridgeshire.”
