Exporters Dominate at Liquidation Sale

The sale held at West Wratting, Cambridge on behalf of P.J. Boreham and Son Ltd in liquidation on 22nd September saw exporters pick up all three JCB 3CX backhoe digger loaders.

Prices achieved for the machines were £19,500 for a 1998 Sitemaster Plus £19,200 for a 1999 Sitemaster and £16,000 for a 1995 example. These prices reflect the demand for good second hand examples by countries from outside the European Union.

This relatively small sale was well attended by both end users and dealers and a strong trade resulted. Other notable prices included £11,200 for a 1998 JCB JS160LC excavator (which required some attention), £8,800 for a 2001 Hitachi EX30 3t mini digger, £7,200 for a 1999 Volvo 320 FL10 8 wheel tipping lorry.

A Kue-Ken 110 Crusher with Cummins 240 diesel engine of indeterminate age was hotly contested and was finally knocked down at £16,800.

It is clear that more good quality plant is required to satisfy demand from exporters and also the home trade.
