Devon Delights
The untimely death of Devon contractor Duncan Harrison resulted in Cheffins travelling to the South West for a sale of exceptional grassland equipment and tractors on Thursday 5th November. Some of the machinery was only a few months old and as expected caused much interest.
Top lot of the day did not disappoint with the 2009 John Deere 7450 2wd forage harvester fetching an impressive £96,000 to a farmer/ contractor from the Midlands. A 2004 Kemper Champion 8 row maize header was fiercly bid for and was eventually knocked down for £33,000 to a West Midlands buyer. The recent rains in the area and the resulting mud failed to deter a huge crowd attending with a lot of interest shown in the excellent rakes and mowers on offer. Trade was strong with a 2009 Claas Disco 3050 at £4,600, a 2008 model was not far behind at £4,000. A top of the range 2009 Claas Liner 3000 rake was sold for £23,750 and a 2007 Claas Liner 880 fetched £10,300. Silage trailers were keenly sought after with Griffiths 10t trailers making between £5,700 and £5,900 for ’04 and ’05 models.
A nice line up of green and yellow tractors found eager buyers although with slightly higher than average hours. An ’08 John Deere 6830 was sold to a Cornish farmer for £39,700, the ’06 6920S made £25,200 and an ’03 6920S went for £21,800.
A small parcel of excavators did not go unnoticed and a 1998 5.5t Daewoo sold for £6,050 with top price in this section a ’99 Daewoo130 at £9,600.
A considerable number of included lots from neighbouring farmers were on offer and the crowds stayed to the end to see a County 1174 make £9,300. Other prices included a 1989 Deutz Fahr DX 6-05 at £5,900, 1987 Ford 8210 £5,000, Welgar 4000 Quadrant baler £5,450.
A very successful sale and we look forward to conducting more sales in the West Country.
