We are delighted to offer a wonderful collection of watercolours by Miles Birket Foster, (British 1825-1899) all from a country house where they have been for the past 100 years.

Miles Birket Foster was born in North Shields on the River Tyne in Northumberland, and was brought at the age of five to London by his Quaker parents to be given a Quaker upbringing.

Birket Foster is known for the beauty of his work – his meticulous work and great technical skill and wonderful use of colour and composition, stippling and cross hatching one colour over another to provide beautiful texture and beauty, and marvellous depictions of the English countryside.
