Cheffins Community Fund

Cheffins Community Fund has been set up to offer small grants to local voluntary and community organisations working to help people in need in the Mid-Anglia area. The first three grants have been made to EARTH, Friends of Fulbourn and Ely Funding Fair.

EARTH, an Ely based organisation, supports adults with learning difficulties, young offenders and those at risk of offending. Friends of Fulbourn, provides care, welfare and other help to those suffering from mental health illness. The Ely Funding Fair took place on 28 May at the Lighthouse Centre and was organised by Voluntary and Community Action East Cambridgeshire to help local charities and voluntary groups learn about funding options.

Cheffins hope to make further grants to grass-root organisations within the region later in the year. Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF), which provides a grant making and fund management service to donor organisations, has been appointed by Cheffins to assist in administering the fund.

Set up in early 2004, CCF has worked in partnership with local and national businesses, charitable trusts, local government and individuals, to distribute more than £1.6m to 550 community projects across Cambridgeshire.
