Cheffins boosts Saffron charity

Cheffins boosted the funds of Support 4 Sight with a donation of £500. Based in Saffron Walden, the charity offers help and support to visually impaired people and their carers in Uttlesford and surrounding areas.

It operates an Equipment and Information Centre in George Street, Saffron Walden, with equipment that helps visually impaired people to cope independently with their sight loss.

Jamie Curtis of Cheffins Saffron Walden office said: “This is one of a series of donations to charities in mid-Anglia we make each year from our charitable fund. The aim is to give specific support to current projects so that the charities get a bigger pay back than the size of our donation. With Support 4 Sight we gave the money to help finance their annual exhibition of equipment for visually impaired people.”

Cheffins Community Fund has been set up to offer small grants to local voluntary and community organisations working to help people in need in the Mid-Anglia area.

Cambridgeshire Community Foundation (CCF), which provides a grant making and fund management service to donor organisations, has been appointed by Cheffins to assist in administering the fund.

Set up in early 2004, CCF has worked in partnership with local and national businesses, charitable trusts, local government and individuals, to distribute more than £1.6m to 550 community projects across Cambridgeshire.
