Cheffins are pleased to have received instructions to offer a pair of 1871 John Fowler & Co (Leeds) Ltd 14 NHP single cylinder ploughing engines and a delightful 1927 Marshall, Sons & Co Ltd 4 NHP road roller ‘Enoch’ on behalf of well known steam enthusiast Michael Beeby on Saturday 20th September 2008 at Rempstone, Leicestershire.

The Beeby name needs no introduction and is synonymous with the art of steam ploughing and early agricultural contracting. The pair of Fowler ploughing engines are the No. 4 Set out of a fleet of 11 run by the Beeby contracting business. Sadly few complete sets still remain and only a handful avoided the melting pot, so this is a great opportunity to acquire a real piece of agricultural history. 1642 (NR1213) and 1641(NR1212) are in good condition with 1641 needing a new firebox but 1642 is ready for inspection and is hoped to be in steam on sale day.

Also on offer is a Marshall S Type compound roller ‘Enoch’ engine no. 82517 (RR7519) and various steam spares to include 70no. unused rubber strakes, hand operated cylinder boring machine and a slide valve re-facing machine various sized governors, cast iron name plates and a large quantity of workshop miscellanea.

Further information will be available in due course.

Catalogue will be available two weeks prior to the sale at £10 each.
