ARCHIVE: Private Fine Art View & Book Launch of ‘The Fraser Family’ by Charles Lane
Cheffins Auctioneers Fine Art Department held a very successful Private View of their June 9th & 10th Fine Art Sale to coincide with the book launch of 'The Fraser Family' by Charles Lane, on Monday night.
A packed saleroom of guests enjoyed the drinks party whilst viewing the sale and enjoying the introduction to this wonderful new book. Charles Lane's new study is the first substantial publication devoted to the artists and does much to clarify the complexities of their lives and works. The book includes a complete family tree and a number of previously unpublished portrait photographs, as well as maps from The Hemingfords & Houghton, and Holywell from 1890. The members of the Fraser family are now remembered for their resonant landscape watercolours. First exhibiting their work in the late 19th century, they have been rediscovered during the recent revival of interest in Victorian painting.
Cheffins will be selling a wonderful large collection of William Garden Fraser paintings of local scenes from around Hemingford Abbots, St.Ives and the area in the September 22nd & 23rd Fine Art Sale.
