Duke of Wellington & Copenhagen

A framed lock of the mane of the Duke of Wellington’s charger, Copenhagen will be auctioned at Cheffins in Cambridge in the November 25th & 26th Fine Art Sale, 2009. Copenhagen was Wellington’s superb battle horse and indeed it was Copenhagen who he rode up Downing Street to No.10 to take up his position as Prime Minister in 1828.

Lot 536 will also include a portrait of the Duke of Wellington (1769-1874)
