Bedford Artists Create Excitement at Auction

Cheffins Auctioneers are pleased to announce the auction of four beautiful William Fraser Garden (1856-1921), watercolours in our September 23rd & 24th Fine Art Auction. The paintings which have been in the same family since they were painted depict the Ferry Boat Inn at Holywell, the Pike and Eel at Needingworth and two scenes along the river at Holywell, where Fraser Garden lived.

William Fraser Garden was one of seven brothers who painted views of the Great Ouse between Bedford and St.Ives. He grew up in Bedford attending the Bedford School. These East Anglian scenes by this renowned artist are much in demand with their exact attention to detail and tranquility. W F Gardens work is now the most highly sought after of all the brothers, although sadly the artist died in poverty.

The paintings will have estimates of £2,000-3,000.

The paintings can be viewed from Sunday 20th September at Cheffins Salerooms in Cambridge.
