Agatha Christie Writing Desk Sells for £2,000

Furniture and effects once owned by Agatha Christie, from the London mews house she shared with her husband Sir Max Mallowan, sold in Cambridge at Cheffins Auctioneers in the 25th & 26th March Fine Art sale.

Agatha’s William IV mahogany writing desk, attracted a great deal of attention and finally sold for £2,500 after much bidding both in the room and on the phones.

A wonderful group of Agatha’s desk blotter and address book, and a copy of ‘The Golden Fleece’ by Robert Graves, signed inside to ‘Agatha and Max, love from Robert 1944’ was also a highlight of the collection and eventually made £2,000 selling to a private collector.
