Lot 2428 - 1962 DOE TRIPLE D Fordson Super Major (blue/orange) TRACTORR..
Details: 1962 DOE TRIPLE D Fordson Super Major (blue/orange) TRACTOR
Reg. No. 247 DBE
Serial No. D267
A shortage of 100hp tractors led to the production of the Triple D by George Pryor a local farmer from Navestock, Essex in 1957 as he was looking for a tractor to replace his County crawler on the farm and work his heavy Essex clay. He joined two Fordson Major tractors together with both hydraulic steering and four wheel drive and with the help from Ernest Charles Doe, Ulting created this iconic tractor. D267 started life on 16th October 1962 when it was supplied new from Ernest Doe to Lincolnshire Motor Co. Ltd where it was promptly re-registered on the same day to Messrs R.F & T.F Strawson of Aylesby near Grimsby, Lincolnshire. The tractor remained with the Strawson farming family until 17th October 1963 when it was re-registered to Manor Farms Bradley of Bradley near Grimsby, Lincolnshire and it is understood that this was another farming business run by the Strawsonns. The tractor then changed hands on 12th November 1965, where it has remained in the same family ownership to the present day. D2677s last owner was well known Doe enthusiast Alwyn Blatherwick who died aged 64 on 30 May 2009 and had inherited the tractor from his father GHB Blatherwick, the last entry on the logbook. The tractor was initially used by the Blatherwick family with a Doe 3furrow reversible plough and Doe 2L9 7tine drag harrow clocking up hundreds of acres on contracting work in the Nottinghamshire area in the 19600s and 700s. Alwyn Blatherwick was regarded as one of the Countryys leading experts on the Doe Triple D and associated implements. Such was Alwynns passion for the tractor he founded the Doe Owners Club in 1996 and helped many other Doe owners with technical and historical information. D267 is a unique opportunity to acquire a Doe Triple D that has been in the same ownership for the last 44 years and owned by possibly the last Doe contractor. The front tractor 083770734 (8,106hrs) and the back tractor 083770806 (8,059hrs) are the original supplied engines and were running and driving well on inspection. Alwynns mechanical knowledge meant that this tractor was never neglected and has received some cosmetic work. The tractor is sold with its original buff logbook, tax disc (28/02/10) and current V5C.
