Supplied new as a pair (with No. 15278) to Mr A Baseley of Warminster, Wilts who then exchanged these engines with Fowlers for a pair of BB11s. In January 1921 they were registered when they came into the possession of contractors in Burton-upon-Trent with the numbers FA 1301 and FA 1302 and given the fleet numbers 5 & 6. They were mainly used for ploughing and dredging the silverway and riverlets in the Ox Hay area. They were often used for harrowing to break down the weeds prior to ploughing. New fireboxes were fitted by Fowlers in 1932. In January 1951 they were sold together with a cultivator to Mr H L Drewitt of Culworth Manor, New Chichester, Sussex. Mr Drewitt was an early preservationist and a prominent early member of the Road Locomotive Society. No. 15279 was acquired by the present owner in 1995 and in that time has had substantial renovation, a total boiler refurbishment by Israel Newton of Bradford, including new firebox, backhead and tubes, rebuilt tender. Running concurrent with this structural work, a complete mechanical overhaul has taken place, new bearings, bushes etc, resulting in a beautiful machine. The paint work and lining was carried out by Tommo Thompson (generally acknowledged to be one of the countryys finest steam engine coach painter and signwriters). The finished result is a stunningly restored example of this very useable size of ploughing engine.
